How NG Nordic Automated Their Toughest Picking Station
NG Nordic, one of the largest recyclers in the Nordics, deployed Enodo Pick to replace a hazardous manual picking station at their electronics recycling facility in Katrineholm. The system removes circuit boards, capacitors, and other rejects from a fast-moving aluminium flow — a job that was physically demanding, difficult to staff, and exposed workers to dust, sharp objects, and potentially hazardous materials.
“This was the station nobody wanted to work at. The conditions are tough, we knew we needed a different approach.”
How it works
Detect
Our AI vision system, based on our proprietary dataset with millions of images from electronics and metals recycling, identifies and classifies materials on the belt in real time.
Plan
Powered by Enodo AgilePath, our application specific software solution plans optimal grasps and robot motions to maximize the number of picked objects, reaching a pick rate of over 30 picks per minute.
Pick
The patent-pending Chimera gripper offers unprecendented versatility in picking a wide range of objects with a single robot, key to successfully matching the performance of manual picking.
Enodo Pick was installed as a retrofit directly onto the existing manual picking station. No changes to the rest of the production line were required.

Results
The deployment confirmed that one Enodo Pick robot replaces one manual picker. Pick analysis shows comparable performance to manual sorting in terms of reject removal from the aluminium flow.

“The robot delivers. It picks at the same rate as a manual sorter, and we no longer have to worry about staffing that station.”
What's next
Enodo Pick is commercially available as a retrofit for existing recycling lines.
“We see clear potential to deploy this on more stations. The fact that it retrofits onto our existing lines makes scaling straightforward.”
